Our Story
Hola! We are Jean Carlo ‘JC’ and Sara ‘the Squirrel.’
JC is originally from Lima, Peru and Sara hails from Boston, Massachusetts. We both came to Europe in August 2016 to study our MBAs. JC in Barcelona, Spain at ESADE and Sara in Milan, Italy at SDA Bocconi.
We met during an intense game of football (soccer) in September 2017 while JC was studying abroad in Milan at Sara’s school. Since then, our shared love of travel, football, Airbnb and a good story to tell has propelled our travel to over 100 cities in 26 countries and counting.
Currently based in Berlin, we both work full-time, but decided in 2019 to begin sharing our travel adventures with the rest of the world via this blog. Now full-time parents to Isabella (5 years) and Luna (1 year), we haven’t stopped traveling, but our travels definitely look a little different than they did pre-kids. We hope that this blog can also show parents that travel does not have to stop with kids.
Why Squirrels?
As for the Squirrel nickname….
Sara: ‘I’m sure our readers (and myself, actually) would like to know why I am ‘the squirrel’
JC: ‘Because you look like a squirrel’
Sara: *sighs*
And what about the kids?
At five years old, Isabella has already traveled to 14 countries and has been to Greece 6 times! Our little Luna has ticked off 10 countries and looks forward to catching up with her sister. Isabella definitely has a preference for Disney as well as beach based vacations. Luna likes whatever her sister likes.
