With COVID-19 and a brand new baby, summer travel looked impossible this year. We originally had flights to Malta at the beginning of September. Unfortunately, Malta experienced a huge spike in number of cases due to increased summer tourism. It looked like our one trip was going to be cancelled. But after talking to a friend in Germany who was headed to Corfu, Greece, I started looking into changing our flights to Greece. With a low number of COVID-19 cases relative to the population and no need to quarantine or take a test upon arrival or return, Greece looked like a very good option for an end of summer break. That’s when I discovered Agia Triada. Less than 20 minutes by cab from the Thessaloniki airport, Agia Triada was the beach vacation we had been desperate for. Read below to find out how you too can have a beach vacation in Agia Triada if you are flying to Thessaloniki.
How to Get to Agia Triada from Thessaloniki Airport
We flew Ryanair from Berlin to Thessaloniki. The flight is 2 hours and 25 minutes. When flying to Greece during COVID-19 you need to fill out a passenger locator form before you fly and present the QR code both before and after you land in Greece. From the airport we took a cab to Agia Triada. The cab ride is 17 minutes and cost 25 EUR. However, if you use the app Beat (like Uber) it should cost between 12-15 EUR. From the city of Thessaloniki, Agia Triada is about 45 minutes by cab. Using Beat, the trip will cost you about 25-28 EUR.
Where to Stay and Eat in Agia Triada
We stayed in an Airbnb located above a delicious seafood restaurant and directly on the beach. You can find our Airbnb here. The restaurant is not only the most delicious on the entire boardwalk from Agia Triada to Peraia, but also the best priced. We spent our days waking up to the most beautiful sunrises, hitting the beach to enjoy crystal clear waters, eating both lunch and dinner at the restaurant, and finishing the day with the most spectacular sunsets. The Airbnb’s restaurant is also incredibly unique because the tables are practically in the sea. We watched one couple arrive for dinner only to strip down and take a dip before returning to their table. Be sure to order the Dorado for 10 EUR and the fried mussels for 7 EUR.
